So I put the Safari on CL about a month ago priced at $1800, probably well over what it’s worth.

My dad gets an actual phone call today from an actual person who wants to come and take a look at it. Let me repeat, a REAL HUMAN wants to take a look at that hulking hunk of shit and potentially buy it.

When I traded my 03 in 2012 it was gone before I got back to the dealer (one of my weekly accounts) and it had some very specific modifications inside that are no good to anyone not doing what I do. RWD mini van, stout drivetrain...nothing on the current market compares. I still kind of miss it, but enjoy the mileage of my Transit Connect.

95+ models actually had a motor powerful enough to move it and a decent appearance (and paint.) This ones a 94 with the least powerful 160hp version of the 4.3 and, well look at it.

I actually like the later Astros/Safaris but the early ones like this are just meh.

He seriously struggles driving it because of its size and amount of blind spots. Plus it needs work (shocking I know.)

I think my parents are buying him a Cavalier, so he’s probably still gonna have to suffer, just not as badly.

I miss the power the most. Even though this gen was anemic it will still always have a market because there was never anything to cross shop it with.
